Hubert Gonzalez earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law. Prior to attending law school, he graduated magna cum laude and obtained an Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences degree with a major in Criminology and a minor in Psychology from the University of Ottawa.
During his time in law school, Mr. Gonzalez worked closely with a criminal defence lawyer in Ottawa, Ontario. He assisted in trial preparation by analyzing disclosure, canvassing criminal issues, and carefully reconstructing the prosecution’s case. Mr. Gonzalez also volunteered at two other criminal defence firms reviewing transcripts, providing opinions, and researching case law which assisted clients in avoiding incarceration. He was also an assistant editor for the Ottawa Law Review. Upon graduation, Mr. Gonzalez was awarded the Regional Senior Justice Award for obtaining the highest mark in the Appellate Advocacy course.
Mr. Gonzalez completed his articles at Canada’s largest criminal defence firm before joining Edward H. Royle & Partners LLP as an associate. Mr. Gonzalez defends various criminal and quasi-criminal charges including offences under the Criminal Code of Canada, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and Highway Traffic Act. He uses high attention to detail in all of his work to fight for his clients and to protect their rights.
Mr. Gonzalez is fluent in Spanish.
