Yonique Brown received an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Law and Society from York University, graduating “With Distinction”. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, focusing her study in the area of criminal law. Ms. Brown’s experience at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law involved volunteering with a criminal justice association through Pro Bono Students Canada, serving as vice president and co-president of the Black Law Students’ Association, and taking a criminal internship course (Crown Attorney Internship).
Ms. Brown’s avid interest in criminal law led her to pursue employment in that area. She summered with criminal duty counsel at Legal Aid Ontario and articled for one of Toronto’s largest criminal trials and appeals offices. After being called to the Ontario Bar, she then joined Edward H. Royle & Partners LLP as a criminal defence lawyer.
