Filip is a criminal defence lawyer with Edward Royle & Partners LLP. Prior to this, he worked as a junior associate in a boutique criminal law firm in London, Ontario and articled with a boutique criminal and family law firm in Mississauga.
He received his Honours Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University in Political Science, finishing on the Dean’s List his final year. Afterwards, he completed his Master of Arts degree in Political Economics and International Relations from the University of Waterloo. Deciding to pursue law rather than academia, he graduated with his LL.B. from Queen Mary University of London in London, England, where he took advantage of numerous pro bono opportunities available to him with some of the largest global law firms.
Filip is a confident, compassionate and empathetic lawyer with a passion and dedicated stance for social justice and human rights. He is a strong proponent for mental health awareness and has a unique understanding of the importance of working hard and taking care of oneself in body and mind. Throughout his life, he has seen the effects of how addiction and mental health strongly correlate with the legal system, and truly believes in rehabilitation rather than punishment or other punitive measures.
Outside of work, you will find him mountain biking and jogging, practicing yoga and mindfulness, or simply out for coffee with close friends and family.
